the essential
The Arcades site is an emblematic place in Villeneuve, for meetings and discussions, and has been for decades.
Last Saturday, January 11, René Bothelo, Vincent Merfeld and Agathe, welcomed customers and partners for the inauguration of the renovated “Les Arcades” brasserie. A buffet was offered, the “Couleur Café” group provided entertainment with two DJs. This moment of celebration culminated with the firing of a small fireworks display.
A business open since 1930
The Cazes family held the reins of this establishment for a long time. In 2006, René Bothelo, as partner, took over. In 2015, a new management organization led Vincent Merfeld to join René. 10 years later, a turning point took place for this site, the press department disappeared to free up an additional 20 m² and to accommodate the establishment’s customers.
René and Vincent have been refining their project for some time now. The installation of protection against bad weather for the terrace, thus allowing discussions to be extended outside even in winter, was a first step.
-16 additional place settings
Inside, not only can the freshly renovated room now accommodate more people, but the completely revised decoration clearly reveals the greenery of the place with the installation of stabilized vegetation, a decoration provided by “Art et Muse”. Looking up, we find the map of Aveyron with the coats of arms of the 11 Aveyron villages belonging to the exclusive club of “the most beautiful villages in France”.
In these places, you have a coffee or a drink, but the activity intensifies at midday, with the service of workers’ meals, 80 seats are in place and mobilize a team of 8 people. René is in charge in the kitchen, Agathe and Vincent are in charge in the dining room.
For €16, a menu is offered with starter, main course and dessert. The menu features local products, including currently veal from the Batut farm in Villeneuve.
During his inauguration speech, Vincent spoke of the “Les Arcades” brasserie as being a place which “reflects our identity in a decor mixing traditions, vegetation, we are attached to the values which give meaning to our establishment …”
