It’s the big anniversary weekend of Luz-Ardiden, a resort where you can ski even if the snow is low.

Luz-Ardiden celebrates its fiftieth anniversary! Of course, the station was not built in a day and continues to evolve. This weekend of January 17 to 19 was chosen to mark this important event, because the creation of the station undoubtedly left its mark on the valley.

Weather-wise, the sun will be there, shining despite winter temperatures. The atmosphere, for its part, promises to be festive. For three days, a rich and varied program will combine concerts, sporting activities and convivial moments.

Carbonne and Joris Delacroix

Numerous events, mainly musical, will take place at an altitude of 1750 meters. However, the festivities will begin on Friday evening at the Maison du Parc National et de la Vallée, in Luz, with a Comedy Club evening where Giuliani, Yassir Bouchnafa and Eliott Doyle will perform, from 8:45 p.m.

The festivities will continue on Saturday with concerts at the foot of the slopes, where Damantra, a rock group from the 70s, Blue Ray, who mixes pop and alternative sounds, Joris Delacroix with his electronic music, and Carbonne, representative of French rap, will perform. For more information and access to ticketing, go to luz-ardiden.com/50-ans. Prices are attractive, with options combining skiing and music: a concert or the Comédie Club evening is offered at €25, a ski day pass with concert at €45, and access to two days with skiing and concerts at 85 €.

On Sunday, it will be the turn of local groups to take the stage for a more intimate but equally dynamic atmosphere. All weekend, activities such as the Big Air Bag, the water slide and other fun challenges will await visitors to complete the experience.

The Grand Prix of the town of Luz, organized by Ski Toy, unfortunately cannot take place due to the lack of snow. It’s a big disappointment for the club, especially after a very successful Christmas vacation thanks to favorable snow conditions. So, despite all the alternatives proposed, it is snow that remains essential to attract visitors and sustain the valley’s economy. Since then, the mild weather has melted much of the snow, and climate change is showing its effects with ever more worrying frequency. However, with the return of cold weather, the artificial snow produced by the cannons makes it possible to maintain acceptable sliding conditions.

Finally, for those who are hesitant about taking the car, know that the routes are clear and that it is possible to access the station with complete peace of mind. Free shuttles are also set up with departure and arrival in front of the Luz Tourist Office.
