He has been accompanying viewers for 22 years and taking them on a journey to “paradise” islands, which sometimes resemble hell. For 22 years, Denis Brogniart has been at the helm of Koh Lanta on TF1. He has seen countless adventurers pass by, knows all the winners of the season and plans to discover many more over the coming years.
Highly appreciated by the French, the 57-year-old presenter does not only present the adventure game on the front page. For example, we were able to find him, recently, alongside Jean-Pierre Foucault and Hélène Mannarino hosting Gladiators. A show which unfortunately did not attract enough viewers and which was canceled by TF1.
Denis Brogniart, at the helm of numerous programs
Besides Koh Lanta et GladiatorsDenis Brogniart also presents Ninja Warriorsas well as The World Cup Mag handball, football, or even rugby. Programs in which many viewers want to find him for as long as possible. And the main person concerned is counting on it.
Denis Brogniart mentioned his work as an animator in a recent interview given to our colleagues at Brut. During the interview, in addition to revealing behind the scenes of Koh Lantathe 57-year-old presenter also discussed a subject he talks about much less: his faith.
His fear of dying
This is also a subject of disagreement with his partner Hortense. “I have faith, I believe in something after death. The question, and I ask myself this every day, is why I believe. Is it because I’m afraid of nothingness ?We often talk about it with my wife.”first explains the emblematic face of Koh Lanta.
Before continuing: “For me, it’s something that helps me, but it’s the only real point of disagreement I have with my wife. She’s not afraid of what’s next and I’d like to be like her” .
Because yes, Denis Brogniart recognizes it, he is afraid of the idea of dying. Particularly because of his hypochondria. “I am a hypochondriac, I am afraid of dying, afraid that my loved ones will die”he admits before regretting: “I haven’t resolved anything about this and it’s true that it’s a real anxiety”.
This hypochondria and this fear of dying comes mainly from the disappearance of his father in May 1992. “My father died suddenly, younger than I am today, of cancer. I have since developed a visceral fear of the disease”he admits.
