Synopsis

York at the end of Prohibition. Wanted by the FBI after a failed scheme, David “Noodles” Aaronson takes refuge in an opium den and leaves town in a hurry. Three decades later, in 1968, a mysterious note prompted him to return to the tomb of his former friends. Back in Brooklyn, he dives back into his memories: his adolescence in the Jewish neighborhood, the rivalries between gangs, his love for Deborah, and his relationship with Max, who led him into crime.
Completion of the work of Sergio Leone, Once upon a time in America is a disillusioned tale of a generation forged by violence and greed, adapted from the novel The Hoods by Harry Grey.

This masterpiece, supported by a masterful historical reconstruction and an exceptional cast (Robert De Niro, James Woods, Elizabeth McGovern, Jennifer Connelly, Joe Pesci), mixes memories and opiate visions to tell the story of the rise of organized crime over several eras. Transcended by the music of Ennio Morricone, the film is a monument of the seventh art.
