“I voted for you Ivar, because if anyone can keep a secret…it’s a member of the royal family.” From episode 2 of The Traitors American version, Lord Ivar Mountbatten is accused of being a “traitor” which could lead to his elimination. On social networks, the justification of Bob the Drag Queen provokes strong reactions. “Boom!”, says one Internet user, when another affirms that he is “the first fan” of this cousin of Charles III. It must be said that even before the first three episodes were broadcast on Peacock on January 9, his participation in the show hosted by Scottish actor Alan Cumming raised questions.
So what is an English aristocrat doing in this game? Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor’s godfather seems, in any case, to have decided to grab the $250,000 reward. With and against him, names from the small screen, reality TV stars and even Dylan Efron, Zac’s brother. There is no doubt that Lord Ivar is doing his job. But when asked what makes him a public figure, the descendant of Queen Victoria does not shy away, reports US Weekly. “I was born with a very beautiful last name: Mountbatten,” he concedes. “It’s one of the surnames of the royal family.”
And to further support his argument, the younger brother of the Marquis of Milford Haven does not hesitate to make the link with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex who live in California. “Harry and Meghan’s children [le prince Archie et la princesse Lilibet, ndlr] are called Mountbatten-Windsor”, he says. Yes and no. If they were, for a time, named like that, the grandchildren of Charles III today respond to the name “of Sussex”. Being titled prince and princess, that changes everything.
