A testimony that turns against its author. On Sunday, a woman in her fifties, named Anne, told the show Seven to Eight on TF1 having paid 830,000 euros to crooks who pretended to be Brad Pitt by sending him false selfies, falsified identity documents and using artificial intelligence to dispel his doubts. But the show did not have the desired effect. This woman, currently hospitalized in an establishment specializing in severe depression, has since been the victim of a cyber-harassment campaign which forced the channel to remove the program from its platforms.

“The report broadcast this Sunday (January 12, 2025) sparked a wave of harassment against a witness. For the protection of victims, we have decided to remove it from our platforms”writes the show presented by Harry Roselmack on his X account.

Irony and mockery

Since the broadcast of the report, this woman, who is now ruined and has attempted suicide three times, has been the subject of ridicule from Internet users mocking her supposed gullibility – the crooks had pretended to need money to pay for an operation for kidney cancer. TFC, the football club, posted a message on “Hello Anne, Brad told us he will be at the Stadium on Wednesday for #TFCLAVAL. And you ?” Under fire from critics, the L1 club then backtracked by presenting its “sincere apologies”.

Netflix posted a message on X listing four films available on its platform in which the American star appears. “4 films to see with Brad Pitt (promise) it’s a gift”indicates the message. The comedian and columnist for Inter, Matthieu Noël, joked about Anne’s fate in his morning post on Tuesday.
