As he prepares to celebrate the sixth anniversary of the opening of the La Villa Monciné cinema complex on March 6, its director Youen Bernard wears a big smile as he details the attendance figures for the year 2024. cinema recorded 181 million spectators last year and here at the Villa, we broke our admissions record with 193,271 paying spectators, which is almost 200,000 with free entries, special sessions and room privatizations. However, the year 2024 was special with no children’s films during the February holidays and no film releases during the Olympic Games. But fortunately, there were also good surprises with the successes of ”The Count of Monte Cristo”, ”L’amour ouf”, ”Un p’tit truc en plus”, ”Vice- versa 2” and ”Vaiana 2” at the end of the year, which attracted 15,000 spectators in December. »
Another record
A great record, while 2023 was already a great year with 188,811 entries. “And what’s more, on December 1st, we set another record with, for the first time, 2,000 spectators in a single day when Moana 2 was released.”
In order to continue this good attendance, Villa Monciné has planned several events in January in addition to film releases: the Harry Potter festival on Saturday January 18 and Sunday January 19, with the screening of the eight films of the saga at the price of 5 euros per session ; the Télérama festival from January 22 to 28 with the screening of the best Arts and Essays films of 2024 at the price of 4 euros per screening; the lift competition on January 23, at 8 p.m., with the screening of “Dirty Dancing”; and on January 29, at 7 p.m., the exceptional preview of the new film “Les Bodin’s partent en vrille”, with the presence of the two actors Vincent Dubois and Jean-Christian Fraiscinet, who will present their film themselves.
