The star of Desperate Housewives revealed in a video posted to Instagram that she had to evacuate her Los Angeles home after receiving multiple warnings during the fires.

A “crazy week”. Since January 7, destructive fires have ravaged California and the city of Los Angeles. And since then, many celebrities have lost their homes in the flames or had to find refuge elsewhere. This is the case of Eva Longoria, who revealed to her 10 million followers on Instagram that she had to leave her house.

“It’s been a crazy week. Devastating for so many people. So many friends who have lost so much… Their homes. I know it’s only material, but it’s also memories, things that people worked very hard for,” she said, on the verge of tears.

The 49-year-old actress was herself affected by the forest fires. “We decided to evacuate our house because we were under warning and we kept getting an alarm,” she said. Eva Longoria has since found refuge elsewhere and is hosting friends who had to evacuate from other places. “My house is full,” she said.

“A lot of people weren’t so lucky.”

And faced with the disaster, the actress is particularly grateful. “I know a lot of people weren’t so lucky. We donated clothes, we literally emptied my pantry to take them to all the places that accept donations,” she says on Instagram.

In addition to material donations, Eva Longoria revealed that she was making a personal donation of $50,000 to the This Is About Humanity association “to support frontline essential workers, agricultural workers, day laborers and families affected by these fires. forest”.

“God bless all the firefighters who put their lives on the line to save our lives and our homes and for all those who help. Thank you,” she concluded, visibly very moved. More than 80,000 people have been displaced since the fires began and the death toll has now risen to at least 24 deaths.
