The Angoulême Charente hospital group has carried out a discussion on the inconvenience caused by the disability of people at work. Within the 11 establishments and EHPADs in Charente joined by around ten others, a comic strip project came to fruition with the L’Hippocampe association, ADAPEI Charente and the help of the Pôle Image Magelis. This comic strip “United in our differences”, subtitled “Disability at work”, was produced by authors with disabilities and hospital staff. Times of exchange, observation and meetings took place within the hospital and the Atelier du Marquis, where the Angoulême Graphic Art ESTA is located.
Because disability does not prevent talent.
Anne-Laure Coupé, HR manager at Angoulême University Hospital, followed the project closely. Sébastien Peters, graduate of a Plastic Arts degree in Paris 8, author with a visual disability, employee of Esat Art Graphique for 4 years, worked for this project.
Tim Chenaf is one of the witnesses to this adventure. Winner of the Hippocampe prize in 2020, he has made a living from his work as a cartoonist and comic book author ever since and wishes to develop his story.
Pierre Laurent Daures is responsible for the project at ESAT and member of the L’hippocampe association. With the help of the LOURMEL group, he finances the reception residence in Lyon for young comic strip artists with disabilities.
Everyone will be in Charente for the international comics festival. They exhibit at the “Pavillon d’Angoulême” rue Hergé.
