Child star of Australian television in the 1990s, Rory Sykes died at the age of 32 in a fire at his Malibu home.

In a message posted on her X account (formerly Twitter), Shelley Sykes announced the death of her son Rory Sykes, 32, in the fire that hit Malibu on January 8. The 30-year-old is a child star on Australian television and has appeared on the show “Kiddy Kapers”.

With the fire in Los Angeles, Rory Sykes was unable to escape the flames and found himself trapped in his house in Malibu. Born blind with cerebral palsy, the 32-year-old had difficulty walking. Present there, his mother Shelley tried to get him out despite a broken arm. “He told me: ‘Mom, leave me,'” she told 10 News First channel with emotion. “No mother can abandon her child,” she added.

His mother tried to reach the emergency services, but in vain. She went to the nearest fire station, but her son Rory was already dead after succumbing to carbon monoxide poisoning.
