Pascal Praud has been multiplying media successes for years. Enough to treat yourself to a nice lifestyle with tailor-made suits, a plush apartment and a beautiful holiday home…
From reporter at the edge of the football pitch to “Michel Drucker of the reactionaries”, as Le Monde called him, Pascal Praud continues his rise in the media. And 2024 will have been another milestone in this flourishing career. Star of CNews, where he hosts Pro Hour morning and evening in front of hundreds of thousands of faithful, he largely contributed to propelling the news channel to the top of the audience, ahead of BFMTV.
Pascal Praud has also been at the helm of a daily show since 2023, Pascal Praud and you, on Europe 1, another media outlet bought by Bolloré, whose audiences he is helping to improve. Every week, he writes a full-page column in the JDD, the flagship title of the Lagardère group, also absorbed by the Breton billionaire.
This rhythm, only a workaholic like him can ensure it, as he boasted to Le Monde en 2023, which dissected his days: getting up “every day at 5:45 a.m., […] three shows on TV and radio morning, noon and evening, four and a half hours of live broadcast in total, with just enough time for a nap in his car, parked underground in the CNews parking lot.
And it took some work! Ousted from Téléfoot in 2004 on TF1, Pascal Praud experienced a long journey through the desert. In difficulty, he does some “cleaning” by hosting conferences for the company of businessman Waldemar Kita. He hired him in 2007 as boss of FC Nantes, where things quickly turned sour. In 2010, Pascal Praud created the company MOTIFALO, registered in the field of activity “press agencies”, a mysterious company about which little information is available…
But his career really changes when he changes bosses. Having arrived a few years ago at iTélé, the ancestor of CNews, Pascal Praud decided in 2016 to support a certain Vincent Bolloré, faced with the anger of a large part of journalists. Good luck to him. “I wish all employees in France to have a boss like Vincent Bolloré,” greeted the controversial host several times, who has since become the face of the channel and is very grateful.
It must be said that his position as spokesperson and his multiple activities in the Bolloré empire allow him today to lead a comfortable lifestyle. According to Closer magazine, his arrival on Europe 1 in the summer of 2023 would have resulted in an annual salary of 7 figures, or 1 million euros or more. Information never confirmed. At Le Parisien in June 2021, Pascal Praud had already refused to comment on a rumor which gave him a salary of “only” 25,000 euros per month…
While he was still working on RTL at the time, and while admitting to being “privileged”, he also told an indiscreet listener: “The people who listen to us are convinced that journalists are paid fortunes. The reality, that’s not true. We earn a good living obviously, but they always think we earn more than we really earn.”
The fact remains that the income from Pascal Praud’s very conservative small business leaves little doubt about his standard of living. Especially since these emoluments are supplemented by the salary of his partner, Catherine Bancarel (photo), HR director of a football club. And not just any one since it’s still FC Nantes!
Result: at 60 years old, Pascal Praud is not content to wander around the sets in a tailor-made suit by Hartwood. He treated himself to a beautiful apartment in a luxury building in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, near the Invalides. One of the most popular districts, that of museums, luxury boutiques, ministries, embassies… Pascal Praud also really appreciates his vacation home on the island of Noirmoutier, where he goes to recharge his batteries with family or with friends, far from the spotlight. A luxury afforded by his status as a bankable and increasingly influential presenter.
