What is an addiction? A patient? How do we become attached to a product? How can we restore the care of these evils of the soul which are neither a physical injury nor a cancer?
After six months of residence in an addiction service, “En addicto” brings together stories of severe addictions, whether linked to alcohol, cocaine, sex, collected by the author, actor and director Thomas Quillardet. The actor chose to play around thirty characters alone.
Moments of joy or emptiness
Without stagecraft, Thomas Quillardet recounts his experience. What words circulate when people trying to quit, caregivers, overwhelmed caregivers and a director meet? In a polyphony of voices, carried by significant work on rhythm, “En addicto” unfolds stories and stories, moments of joy or emptiness. It is also a documentary look at the hospital, addiction and care, crossed by a dizzying question: how do we soothe our pain?
Thomas Quillardet quotes a doctor: “Being human is not easy” And for him, this is undoubtedly the heart of the show.
A talk with Thomas Quillardet will be held on Wednesday January 15 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., free admission. Organized in collaboration with the Yves-Le Foll hospital center.
