The painter of Dutch origin died, at the age of 83, at her home in Plaisance-du-Gers this Wednesday, January 8.

Having exhibited in the four corners of the department, Peggy Kluck had delighted the hearts of all the Gersois who crossed her path and discovered her works with the same shared emotion: that of happiness. Born in the Netherlands, she attended the Fine Arts in Arnhem, before traveling the world. But it was in the Gers, in Cravencères to begin with, that the artist chose to settle almost 40 years ago. With her partner, she created an original garden “dedicated to painting”.

This immersion in nature was his source of inspiration, fixing on the canvas fruits and flowers of his surroundings in the fleeting moment of light, playing with the radiance of the air, without ever departing from a harmony and with radiant vitality. There we find some inspirations from Impressionist or Fauvist painters, such as Van Gogh, Matisse and Cézanne.

But it was above all David Hockney, painter of pleasure and joy of living, amazed just like her by the world around him, that she particularly admired. Her flamboyance of colors, applied to simple everyday things, Peggy applied to her enchanted landscapes and gardens.

“She had been living in Plaisance for several years, right next to the town hall, rue Sainte-Quitterie, and when we passed in front of her house, we could see her paintings in the window of the apartment,” emphasizes Patrick Fitan, mayor. of Piacenza.

A final tribute will be paid to him on Tuesday January 14, 2025, at 3 p.m., at the Cravencères cemetery. A snack in his memory will then take place at his home in Plaisance. Visits are possible at the funeral home. To his children, grandchildren and loved ones, La Dépêche du Midi offers its most sincere condolences.
