Eleventh Moon will return to Balma on March 15 for a new Pink Floyd tribute concert.

The four notes of the recurring arpeggio in the long intro to their title Shine On You Crazy Diamond, released in 1975, constitutes one of the gimmicks that marked the history of Pink Floyd. From the album Wish You Were Here, this chord will resonate on Saturday March 15 at the town hall auditorium for the return of Eleventh Moon to the Balmese stage.

“An album in its raw state”

This group has already caused a sensation during its tour “The Birth of The Dark Side of the Moon”, played by Balma in December 2023. A concert which reproduced Pink Floyd’s historic tour in 1972, giving birth to the vinyl record: The Dark Side of the Moon. “No choirs, saxophone, or synthesizers. An album sounding in its raw state, accompanied by the soundtracks used at the time and the addition of videos that the group will use the following year”, underlined Pascal, drummer of Eleventh Moon.

Already that evening, the five Toulouse virtuosos faithfully recreated the atmosphere of the concerts given more than five decades ago by London musicians.

Dive into the 1970s

The performance that Eleventh Moon will perform on Saturday March 15 at the auditorium will open with the full rendition of Wish You Were Here. “This powerful and introspective album explores the themes of absence, nostalgia and success, while paying tribute to the former member of the group, Syd Barrett”, underline the five musicians from Toulouse. A deeply intimate work. Faithful and refined, the service follows the same principle as in 2023, without modern artifice. The plunge into the atmosphere of the 1970s is instantaneous! The group even allowed itself an excursion in 1977, also covering Dogs, Pigs on the Wing and Pigs (Three Different Ones), three titles from Animals (1977), “an album of incisive social criticism”, they recall.

In the second part, Eleventh Moon will look at the best of progressive rock from the 1970s. The opportunity to rediscover the works of Genesis, Supertramp, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Caravan…

“Wish You Were Here” by Eleventh Moon: Saturday March 15 at 8:30 p.m. at the auditorium of the town hall, 6 Allée de l’Appel du June 18, 1940 in Balma. Admission: €13 (online) and €15 (on the evening of the concert). www.eleventh-moon.com
