We all know the Dolce and Gabbana brand. These two creators, Sicilian for the first, Milanese for the second, were a couple. But even if they are no longer, they remain inseparable in work. Their creations are the subject of an exceptional exhibition, From heart to hand, which opens its doors this Friday, January 10, in , at the Grand Palais.

For this great first, we discover the treasures of their haute-couture collections with more than 200 dresses, sewn with gold thread and embroidered with precious stones, and jewelry from the house Dolce & Gabbana. “What we discover is their high fashion et haute couture. And they never showed that to the public, says Florence Müller, the curator of this exhibition. In the parades, we saw very little of them because it was mainly reserved for customers. And there, they wanted for the first time to reveal this to the general public. So it’s a privilege to see these dresses that were presented essentially in a very intimate setting.”

And this very wealthy clientele, for whom these haute couture pieces are usually reserved, is called Angelina Jolie, Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Monica Belluci, or of course Madonna, the muse and friend of the duo…

An immersive exhibition

The exhibition takes place in around ten rooms with a unique scent accompanied by opera arias. The opportunity to discover all the influences of Dolce & Gabbana: Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Visconti’s film The Cheetah… A room is entirely decorated with hand painted tiles, another is devoted to religious devotion or to Greco-Roman antiquity, like a grand tour of Italy.

Moreover, one of the exhibition rooms is a reproduction of the haute couture house’s workshop. And the little hands, from Italy, work and sew in front of the public.
