Paris Jackson, 26, revealed on Tuesday that she has been sober since January 7, 2020. “Hello, I’m PK (Paris Katherine) and I’m an alcoholic and a heroin addict,” she begins in an Instagram post .
She adds: “Today, I have been clean from drugs and alcohol for five years. To say I am grateful would be a poor understatement. Gratitude only scratches the surface.”
Michael Jackson’s daughter lists the benefits of sobriety on her life, such as being able to make music, laugh or dance. “I discovered that life goes on whether I’m sober or not, but today I can show up for it,” she wrote.
A montage of clips shows what Paris Jackson has been through, with glimpses of her drinking alcohol, smoking rolled cigarettes and looking sad. After a series of images of her sobriety tokens, which mark her progress, we see her happy, writing music and enjoying life with her pets and her future husband, Justin “Blue” Long.
Paris Jackson, who got engaged to the music producer in December, has previously opened up about her drug addiction, battle with depression and suicide attempts. In a documentary released in 2020, she confided that she had self-harmed after the death of her father.
