The 2025 season of the Yellow Pieces operation, carried out since 1989 under the leadership of Professor Claude Griscelli then Bernadette Chirac via the Hospital Foundation, is launched from Bordeaux this year. And the president of the Hospital Foundation, Brigitte Macron, elegant and smiling, did not seem to be offended at being slightly eclipsed. After breaking through the crowd, the mayor of Bordeaux, Pierre Hurmic launched an appeal into the microphone: “Little Didier Deschamps is wanted on the podium! » adding “so happy that the Foundation has chosen Bordeaux to launch its Yellow Pieces operation”. So happy, in fact, that he declared “the 2025 yellow vest season” open. Ouch. Under the boos, he corrected “uh, the yellow pieces of course”, provoking a burst of laughter from Brigitte Macron and the audience present.
Deschamps’ “thunderous” declarations
At the Bordeaux University Hospital, the Yellow Pieces operation has enabled 110 projects to see the light of day since 1989. The various collections have thus contributed to the financing of a house for families in the South Pole, and the improvement of the design of the reception for pediatric emergencies, the opening of extreme rooms in the onco-pediatrics department, the upcoming opening of a school… all to the tune of 2.4 million euros. Each year, the Hospital Foundation collects around 5 million euros, including 1 in yellow coins, the rest being dematerialized donations.
Brigitte Macron recalled that all the credit went to “Madame Chirac”: “She hears us where she is, that’s for sure,” she said, “and passed the torch to me. In 2025, we will focus our strengths on mental health, addictions, bullying, by opening even more teenage centers, everywhere. » She praised the commitment of Didier Deschamps throughout the day at her side, who was not stingy with “thunderous declarations on the television channels”. Indeed, that same day, the coach of the French football team announced that he was leaving his post in 2026, somewhat supplanting the Yellow Pieces event. As a bonus gift, the Star Academy artists Helena, Rose, Timéo and Esmée joined the delegation of the Yellow Pieces on the stage to sing the anthem of the operation, freshly published this Wednesday: “Les petits soleils”.
