“Matisse and Marguerite: The Gaze of a Father” at the Museum of Modern in invites us, from April 4 to August 24, 2025, to explore the intimate and artistic relationship between Henri Matisse and his daughter Marguerite. Through more than 110 unpublished works and rare documents, immerse yourself in the family and creative universe of this master of modern art.

Of April 4 to August 24, 2025the Paris Museum of Modern Art hosts the exhibition “Matisse and Marguerite: A Father’s Eye”a unique dive into the artistic and personal relationship between Henri Matisseone of the masters of modern art, and his eldest daughter, Marguerite Duthuit-Matisse. With more than 110 works varied – paintings, drawings, engravings, sculptures and ceramics – this retrospective explores the intimate bond between the artist and his model, while revealing works rarely, if ever, exhibited in .

The exhibition of MAM offers a chronological journey retracing the significant stages of this father-daughter collaboration. Marguerite, constant and inspiring muse, is at the heart of many major creations of Matissefrom his first childhood sketches to his portraits taken during the Second World War. Among the works presented, some come from prestigious American, Swiss and Japanese collections. In addition, photographs, documents d’archivesand even creations by Marguerite enrich this immersion in their artistic and family universe.

The Museum of Modern Art in Parislocated at 11 Avenue du President Wilson in the 16th arrondissement, is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.with a late night on Thursday until 21h30. Entrance fees are 15 € at full price, 13 € reduced rate, and free for under 18s.
