The hit at the cinema Comte de Monte Cristo did not allow the Château d’If to reach the Arc de Triomphe record (1,758,087 visitors) in the 2024 list of the Center des monuments nationaux (CMN). But it still attracted 116,299 visitors last year. Which ranks it in 8th position among the most visited monuments, with an increase of 9% compared to the previous year. The CMN notes an Olympic Games effect in summer attendance at the site, highlighted by the arrival of the flame almost simultaneously with the spotlight offered by the film by Alexandre de La Patellière and Matthieu Delaporte inspired by the masterpiece by Alexandre Dumas: the months of July and August saw a 43% jump in visits.

Despite the turmoil, EELV Paca will have a “fiesta”

Despite the recent suspension of several activists, against a backdrop of political score-settling, Europe Ecologie-Les Verts Paca wants to “the ecology party” this Saturday January 11 and Sunday January 12. Meet at the Cité de l’agriculture and the Fabulerie, in , for these “winter days“. Tuesday January 7, EELV Paca launched this invitation which comes less than a week after the announcement by Jean-Laurent Félizia in Provence (our edition of December 31, 2024) of his resignation from his functions as regional co-secretary. His former alter ego, the Vauclusian Géraldine Boÿer, who still presents herself as “regional co-secretary” in EELV Paca communications, did not react publicly to this departure.

Environmentalists launch into battle against La Valentine logistics project

There is no question for the City’s environmental group to support the project to build an “urban logistics hotel” in the heart of La Valentine (11th), carried out by the company Prodev of the Frey group to build docks to accommodate trucks deliveries over more than 19,000 m². After a meeting with opponents of the project this Monday, elected officials also entered the battle alongside local residents and associations against this “mega-platform”, on an industrial wasteland on Avenue de Saint-Menet.

They fear the harmful effects of this construction on the environment and the already heavy road traffic in this district. “Despite the very negative opinions expressed by local residents during the public consultation, we learned after this meeting of the signing of the building permit at the end of December“, regrets Sébastien Barles, deputy (EELV) for ecological transition. Against this project”poorly thought out“, he calls for reflection to avoid “any truck“and place these logistics warehouses along the railways.”As with the incinerator at the Arkema factory in Saint-Menet which never saw the light of day, we remain hopeful“, adds Sébastien Barles. An open letter, signed by other elected officials, including deputies, should be presented at a press conference on January 20.
