this historic theater troupe plays for the benefit of associations

Gathered every Monday evening since the beginning of September 2024, the eight actors from the Etrelles theater troupe (Ille-et-Vilaine) are preparing to be on top in February 2025 to present their new comedy with a festive title: Fireworks.

It is a play in three acts by Noël Piercy performed more than 300 times in France.

“The choice of a comedy is never easy. It must amuse us during the first reading. During the summer, we read no less than 15 plays before choosing the one we are working on,” indicate the managers who note with satisfaction the arrival of a woman and a man in the group that will be present on stage.

This time again, these are 10 performances which will be offered in February, room Saint-Hippolyte made available to the troop by the municipality.

“As in previous editions, checks will be given to eight charitable associations. Last February, a check for €800 was awarded to Arlequin, which helps people with disabilities. This allowed a dozen residents to travel to Paris to attend various events of the Paralympic Games. »

A historic association

La Théatrelle, which has existed since the 1960s, was created by Father Bertin, parish priest.

When it was created, only two performances were on the program: on Christmas Eve before midnight mass and then a second in January.

First in the Saint Hippolyte room, then at the Hairies before returning to the current room, the Étrellais theater welcomes an average of 1,800 spectators each year.

Since its beginnings, the Théatrelle has seen more than 100 actors and as many volunteers.

Although the public comes in large numbers each time, the local association, like many neighboring troupes, finds itself faced with a recruitment problem, particularly among men.
