As long as you give minimal importance to any form of new technology, you are certainly aware that CES 2025 is currently being held, the largest annual trade show dedicated to everything new. high tech. It's a bit like E3 for the players in the end, to put it better (too early?). Every year, CES is an opportunity for renowned manufacturers to share their potentially revolutionary new products, but also for smaller companies to highlight sometimes absurd innovations. It may even happen that a portable console the size of a MacBook is discussed. And then, like every year, it's the opportunity for Nvidia to put on a show.
The firm, which benefits from a simply mind-blowing market capitalization in recent times thanks to AI (we even allow ourselves to surpass Microsoft and Apple on occasion), does not forget, however, what has made its field of expertise during years: graphics cards for PC. And this year will not be the year where we cut tradition short: for CES 2025, Nvidia announced four new graphics cards for its RTX 5000 range. To talk about Nvidia graphics cards, you have to like numbers. Those of the technical characteristics first: to help us and avoid any form of confusion, the firm offers here a small comparison of the technical contributions of each of the new graphics cards, visible below.
First thing to note: exit DLSS 3, we move on to DLSS4, for all iterations of the range. This is about to change a lot of things: DLSS 4 offers itself the luxury of analyzing the image globally to offer much more convincing results. Combined with the Multi-Frame Generation found exclusively on these RTX 5000 models, the performance is sold as much more organic overall. But obviously, where the changes (and prices!) will oscillate, it is rather in the number of TOPS for the AI, or even in the memory configuration. We thus see that the RTX 5090, the ultimate this year, will do particularly well with 3400 AI TOPS. In terms of performance, we expect a gain of 2.5x (in terms of FPS) on particularly demanding games like Alan Wake 2 or Cyberpunk 2077 for example. Finally, if GDDR7 will be on all models in the range, they will be accompanied by a RAM of 32 GB on the RTX 5090, 16 GB on the RTX 5080 and 5070Ti, while the RTX 5070 will have to do with 12 GB of RAM.
The main problem with Nvidia graphics cards is whether it will be possible to obtain one quickly. It is now a classic: with each new iteration, hordes of disillusioned amateurs accustomed to the frantic updating of web pages with a simple goal, to obtain the famous sesame even if it means mortgaging their house. Ah yes, hey, the price: know that this range oscillates between 2350 and 650€. Let's take a quick look: for an RTX 5090, count on €2,349. For the RTX 5080, it will be more like €1179. The RTX 5070 Ti will be available for €884, while the RTX 5070 will be available for €649. Yes, you have to love beautiful graphics.
