Beaumont-de-Lomagne. Noëlle Semenou at Les Cordeliers: ode to nature and art

Noëlle Semenou, self-taught artist, has been painting on canvas since 2006 with passion and sensitivity. Coming from a rural environment and deeply in love with nature, she devoted many years to the reproduction of various images: photographs, flowers, landscapes, or even cartoon illustrations, having not yet found her artistic signature.

In 2014, a deeply moving personal event marked a decisive turning point in his journey. From 2015, his painting took on new momentum, moving towards creations described as “naïve” and driven by the desire to share more of his universe. His works, with bright and expressive colors, often transport the viewer to an idealized childhood, imbued with sweetness and reverie.

His style, entirely personal and singular, is produced almost exclusively with brushes and acrylics. In 2024, a wind of renewal has blown through his art. Eager to explore new techniques and get ever closer to her inner sensitivity, she introduced the use of spray paint and integrated natural elements, such as plants, to complement her brushes.

Noëlle finds her inspiration during her walks in the countryside, moments that give her a change of scenery and nourish her imagination. These walks allow him to dream about his paintings, sometimes for weeks, before finding the right moment to create them. Very sensitive to nature and its landscapes, she also draws on her love of animals to enrich her work. Painting wild animals and birds came naturally to her, a tribute to the preservation of wildlife and a reminder of our deep connection with the living.

“These animals and this nature,” she explains, “bring me back to what we all are, deep down: animals. Through each of my paintings, I seek to transmit a message, whether psychological or spiritual.” She confides that the creation of her works is always imbued with an element of uncertainty and the unexpected. It is only once the painting is completed that she often discovers a hidden meaning, rich in meaning.

The “Les Cordeliers” nursing home is pleased to present a magnificent exhibition by Noëlle Semenou until January 31, 2025. His floral, animal and landscape creations, imbued with his love for nature and animals, invite visitors on a poetic and contemplative journey. This exhibition, organized with the support of the association “Les Amis de l’Ehpad Public de Beaumont”, highlights a talented artist from our region and celebrates her deeply human and spiritual artistic commitment.
