Guérigny. The Friends of Vieux Guérigny in the spotlight in Les Célébrations de Bourgogne. The Academy of Sciences, Arts and Belles-Lettres of Dijon, founded in 1725, has just published Burgundy Celebrations version 2025. This fifteenth edition is no exception to the rule, recalling events which emerge from the oblivion of the men and women, humble or eminent in their time, who fertilized this land of history and culture. Everything that has meaning (event, discovery, invention, feat of arms or news item, work, monumental or plastic creation) has its place in the Celebrations.
In this new edition, we discuss, among others, Aglaë Adanson, creator, in 1799, of the Balaine arboretum (Villeneuve-sur-Allier), the Icaunais sculptor François Brochet (1925-2001) or even the formidable privateer captain Jean-François Landolphe, born in Auxonne in 1747.
On the Nivernais side, the death, in 1825, of the Marquis Charles-François de Bonnay, born in Cossaye in 1750, and who will be one of the presidents of the National Assembly in 1790, one of the drafters of the declaration of Human rights and finally, one of the ministers of Louis XVIII. In terms of institutions, an article celebrates the fiftieth anniversary of the creation of the Friends of Vieux Guérigny.
