Cinema and series: five releases in 2025

2025 will once again be the year of cinema, with several films filmed in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. Here is our selection.

Les Arènes, first feature film by Camille Perton

Eight years after his first short film Skip fieldsthe director and screenwriter, Camille Pertonis preparing to release his first feature film The Arenasco-produced by Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma.

Filming took place from September 18 to October 18, 2023 in the region. Different districts of Lyon (Vieux Lyon, Fourvière, La Duchère, Gerland and Confluence) served as settings, but also the Pôle Pixel in , the Monts d’Or, Caluire and Rillieux-la-Pape.

The film takes us into the world of football with Brahim (Ilies Kadri originally from the Lyon region), 18 years old, a promising young player represented by his agent and cousin, Mehdi (Sofian Khammes). While he is on the verge of realizing his dream, signing his first professional contract in Lyon, the arrival of a powerful foreign agent reshuffles the cards. A real race against time begins on the transfer market where anything goes.

The return of Kaamelott – Second Part [partie 1]

Aficionados of Kaamelott will rejoice at the return to the screen of the Lyonnais d’Alexandre Astier and his little comrades in Kaamelott-second part [partie 1].

The film is still filming in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. At the time of writing, nothing has yet filtered out of the mysteries of this continuation of the adventures of King Arthur of Kaamelott: first partreleased in 2021. The latter was a success 11 years after the end of the first broadcast of the series on the M6 ​​channel.

Part of the distribution is revealed: Alexandre Astier of course, Thomas Cousseau, Anne Girouard, Jean-Christophe Hembert, Jacques Chambon, Joëlle Sévilla or even Lionel Astier.

Kaamelot, second part. Release date: October 22, 2025.

Louise Bourgoin, Muriel Robin and Florence -Caille in Magistrate

This first film of Pierre Mazingarbe was filmed in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes in September and October 2024, notably in Villefranche-sur-Saône. It benefits from a quality cast with Louise Bourgoin, Muriel Robin et Florence Loiret-Caille among others.

The story: Louise Pileggi, brilliant vice-prosecutor, has always had complicated relationships with her mother Judith. When she finds herself transferred to a provincial court where Judith works as a clerk, Louise becomes her mother’s boss, and conflicts begin again. Screenplay: Thomas Pujol, Pierre Mazingarbe.

The thriller The tormented by Lucas Belvaux

From September 9 to October 31, the Belgian director Lucas Belvaux (At our place, 38 witnesses, Not his type…) filmed partly in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes on 12And film The Tormentedbased on his own eponymous novel released in 2022, with, on display Ramzy Bedia, Niels Schneider, Linh-Dan Pham and Deborah François.

Skender (Niels Schneider), a former legionnaire who has become homeless since his wife Manon left him, accepts the crazy proposition of the wealthy boss of his former sergeant, Max: to serve as game during a human safari, for a very juicy salary. His goal is to secure the financial future of his family. But things don’t go as planned…

The forest scenes were filmed in Isère in the Chartreuse Natural Park near Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse. Several sequences were also filmed in Ardèche in Meyras, Jaujac, Lussas and Balazuc.

A new series, Generation Alpha

The Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region hosted the filming of Generation Alphaa new series for Télévisions and German broadcaster ZDF.

Directed by Franck Brett, this 6x45min format is produced by Les Films du Cygne, a production company partly based in , in co-production with Storia Télévision, Arezzo Films and Maze Pictures (German company). The screenplay is written by Matthieu Bernard, co-director and co-author ofExtraanother series produced by Films du Cygne and shot in the region, and by Lyonnais Louis Aubertin collaboration with Clément Marchand. The series was supported in writing and development by Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma.

The six episodes will follow the Alpha group, an organization of young European activists outraged by the inaction of the powerful in the face of global warming. While the largest European companies gather in the Alps for a forum claiming to save a glacier and invest in the climate, the Alphas strike hard: simultaneously, in the four corners of the continent, they kidnap the children of the bosses of these companies. Their goal: to expose the hypocrisy of the elites and force them to keep their promises before it is too late.

We will find in the casting Leo Legrandseen at the cinema in The Children of Timpelbach in 2008 and in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma films, such as Distant Neighborhood (2010) et The evening dress (2010), but also in various series and films. Marie Colombrevealed in The Magnetics in 2021, also starring in a film Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Cinéma, The Royal Way (2023), will also play one of the main roles in the series. Finally, François Berléand, Natacha Lindinger, Catalina Del Rosario, Will Attenborough et Alva Schäfer complete the cast.
