Folk in bulk: the group of 1,000 balls

Folk en bulk will host its 1,000 ball at the Grégory-Lemarchal space, in Bonneval, Saturday January 18. The evening, organized by the Kadance association, will begin with Celtic music and sea shanties.

For the occasion, Jean-Jacques Petat, diatonic accordionist and guitarist, will be accompanied, among others, by Alain Brulé, another founding member of the group, who will play banjo and mandolin.

Folk en bulk was created in 1987 at the Maison pour tous du Pont-Neuf, in . He has performed throughout and abroad (Ireland, Germany, Czech Republic, etc.). He regularly participates in the Grand Ball of Europe and stands out for his tours in the Alpine refuges of Vanoise for eight years.

All generations

Its constantly evolving repertoire is inspired by French dance traditions (Berry, , Alsace, Vendée, etc.) and more distant horizons such as Quebec, Ireland or Eastern Europe. With varied instruments, such as violin, accordions, banjo, flute, bombarde, Folk en bulk offers a rich and accessible musical experience.

In collaboration with Traine Bush and Dissidanses, other folk groups, he offers a diverse sound universe.

During these balls, all generations come together to dance polkas, couvertures, mazurkas, andros or real ones. The dances, often explained briefly by a leader, guarantee a friendly evening for everyone, beginners or experienced.
