The comic book publishing group Delcourt officially belongs to the number two publishing company in France, Editis, after the finalization of the acquisition of the first by the second, they indicated Thursday January 2 in a press release. Owned by Czech billionaire Daniel Kretinsky, Editis already had three comic book publishing houses: Philéas for Franco-Belgian comics, Kurokawa for manga and Kotoon for webtoons.

In July 2024, Editis and Delcourt announced that they had entered into “exclusive negotiations” for this takeover, which received the green light from the Competition Authority on December 20. The amount of the transaction was not specified.

This ambitious acquisition is a new step in Editis’ strengthening strategy“, commented the president of the publishing group, Denis Olivennes, quoted in the press release. The Delcourt group, founded in 1986 by the publisher Guy Delcourt, publishes Franco-Belgian comics under this brand, mangas under the label Tonkam and South Korean comics (webtoons) under the Kbooks label. The group acquired the Soleil publishing house in 2011, founded by Mourad Boudjellal.

After the takeover by Editis, Guy Delcourt remains at the head of the company he founded. “At the dawn of the forty years of our company, I am delighted to be involved in it more than ever, alongside our employees and our authors, and with the support of the entire Editis structure.“, declared Guy Delcourt, quoted in the press release.
