“When I was 11, I went to the municipal library of Périgueux; that day, I had access to another world,” slips Daniel Guiraud. He knows that childhood memories sometimes shape adult dreams. After responsibilities in Paris or Marseille in a mutual fund, this book lover returned to live in Dordogne. There, at the beginning of 2024, he founded La Linotte editions.
“I thought of the lark which, in Occitan, translates calandreta, but we would have confused it with schools. And then I thought of the linnet. This little beast who doesn’t just have one idea in mind. It’s modest, it suits me well. » La Linotte is based on three pillars: children’s books, heritage (especially gastronomic) and crime fiction. “It’s complicated to focus on general literature with the weight of the big national publishing houses,” slips Daniel Guiraud. He adds: “The works are printed at the Nouvelle Imprimerie moderne in Périgueux and produced in an edition of 500 copies. »
Lover of words
Daniel Guiraud says he prefers quality to quantity, “in order to best support the authors with whom we work”. So, he is responsible for selecting his new pens, ensuring proofreading, researching illustrations and even distribution. “You have to be a little crazy to get into publishing right now,” teases the founder of La Linotte, aware of the explosion in the cost of paper.

Nothing to scare this lover of words, who wants to keep the entire book chain alive. “We are not on Amazon or Fnac, I want to make booksellers work,” he insists.
Six to eight books in 2025
The man is full of projects for the coming year: after “Le Régime Périgord”, “Thalia, the Secret of the Last Fairy” and “Nanukaa, Little Girl of the Wolf Clan”, he plans to go out from six to eight books in 2025.
