American actress Linda Lavin, known for her roles in numerous series such as “Newport Beach”, “The Good Wife”, “Bones” or, more recently, “Behind the Facade” alongside Lisa Kudrow (on Netflix since December 12), died on December 29, 2024 “unexpectedly” at the age of 87, Deadline announced.

Linda Lavin, who currently starred in the new series “Mid-Century Modern” with Nathan Lane and Matt Bomer – coming in 2025 on Disney + – succumbed to complications linked to recently diagnosed lung cancer, said know his press officer at the specialized site. The actress had filmed seven of the ten episodes of the first season before production took a break for the holidays.

“Working with Linda was one of the highlights of our careers. She was a magnificent actress, singer, musician with devastating humor. But, more importantly, she was a beautiful soul. Deep, joyful, generous and loving. The entire team will miss her greatly,” writes the production of “Mid-Century Modern” in a press release posted on Instagram. Actor Joe Mantegna (“Criminal Minds”) paid tribute to the memory of his friend, a post commented with a heart emoji by his partner in the series, Adam Rodriguez.

A stage actress from a young age, Linda Lavin began her career in the 1960s in the musical “It’s a Bird… It’s a Plane… It’s Superman” and has never stopped juggling roles on the stage and in front of the cameras. In 1987, she won a Tony Award (the American equivalent of Molière) for the play “Broadway Bound”. His role in the series “Alice” earned him two Golden Globes – in 1978 and 1979.

After appearances in the series “Angels of Happiness”, “The Sopranos” and “New York, Criminal Section”, she played, in the early 2000s, the recurring role of the grandmother of Seth Cohen (Adam Brody ) in the series “Newport Beach”. In recent years, she has been seen in the series “Bones”, “Madam Secretary”. She also shot episode 2 of the new series “Elsbeth”, broadcast Sunday December 29 on RTS1 (available on Play RTS).
