For New Year’s Eve, the evening at the restaurant remains a classic, including for latecomers. Less than 48 hours before New Year’s Eve, some establishments in Brest still had a few tables available. “There were four or six places left this Monday, December 30, 2024 in the morning, but they are going quickly,” remarks Maxime Redon, the director of the winter garden in the city center. On the menu this Tuesday, December 31, 2024: a unique menu at €85 with langoustine ravioli, foie gras, scallops, veal Rossini, etc.
A waiting list at the Maison de l’Océan
Opposite the Quartz, the Clémenceau and its €90 menu is not completely full either: “But that’s how it is every year and we end up full with the latecomers. According to my older colleagues, however, it fills up less quickly than in other years,” indicates an employee of the establishment, who nevertheless observes that the regulars are there.
At the commercial port also the regulars have reservations. The Base is already full. And, on the customs quay, the Maison de l’Océan will not deviate from its habits. “We are already full, there are even 39 people registered on the waiting list,” said the establishment this Monday noon. It must be said that the New Year’s Eve menu, at €114, is mouth-watering: a duo of pollack and smoked salmon or oysters, sea bass escalope, mashed potatoes with truffles, smoked bacon cream , vanilla dome, candied chestnut, buckwheat ice cream accompanied by a glass of champagne.
We’re not usually open in the evening during the week, so we haven’t changed
A few steps away, still on the Quai Tabarly side, the burger restaurant Marcelle et Morris has decided to think big with two services. This Monday, there were still a few places left for the one from 7 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. However, the second, from 9:15 p.m. until 2 a.m., is already full. On the program, DJ, dancing evening and a special menu at €34.90. Nearly 170 people are expected in total this Tuesday evening.
Some good closed addresses
At the commercial port, Le Remorkeur will be open until 3 p.m. but will not organize a special evening for New Year’s Eve. And it will also be a day off, for example, at Crabe Marteau and Bœuf on the quay because some good restaurants in Brest have chosen to close that evening. We can also cite, in this case, the Tentation des Mets, the Baragwin, the P’tites recipes and Le P’tit Louis or even the Globulle rouge. “We’re not usually open in the evening during the week, so we haven’t changed,” explains Amandine Petit, who runs the restaurant, which recently received honors from Gault & Millau, with Benoît Le Corvez. Annual leave also for Embrun, Étoilé Brestois. And no M on the menu for the 31st either: “We haven’t organized a service on that day for eight years. We were full every year but we have to give the teams a rest,” considers a manager of the renowned Kerinou restaurant. Perhaps the opportunity for the teams to also have a restaurant…
