“Doing a speaking voice in a Disney film is a consecration”

The Victoriavillois, winner of Star Académie 2021 and interpreter of Johnny Rockfort in Starmania, William Cloutier, can now check a new box on his dream list: he lends his speaking voice to a Walt Disney character.

William Cloutier hides behind Zazu, the little bird who accompanies Mufasa in the dubbed version of Walt Disney's most recent film Mufasa – The Lion King.

This dubbing experience is not his first; William has already given his singing voice to the character of Lyle in the film Lyle, Lyle, Crocodileoriginally performed by singer Shawn Mendes.

But this is a first experience for a spoken voice AND in a Disney film; “a consecration”, as William tells monvicto.com.

William initially auditioned for the role of Taka, who would later become Scar, but during the auditions, Walt Disney stressed to William that they found his voice “interesting”, but that they saw him “in something more solar”.

They took a chance with auditions for Zazu and William ended up with the role; a great opportunity to make a return to the screen as William mentions.

A second album and an already busy year 2025

William Cloutier had a busy fall and will have an equally busy winter.

The dubbing process for The Lion King began in the fall while new show dates for his Starmania European tour were also added to his schedule.

A second album is still awaited by many, but its release was delayed following the enormous success of Starmania.

With work commitments and family, what happens to this album now that we're at the end of 2024?

William Cloutier still hasn't managed to clone himself to arrive on time for all his projects, but he hopes to have a finished product by February to present to his audience.

The end of the Starmania tour will make room in his schedule for something else. By his own admission, he may have a lot of work to do in 2025. He can't venture too much into discussing his next projects, but a little bird tells us that we will certainly hear a lot about him l next year.
