Laure Calamy is good for morale. She demonstrates it once again in the moving My inseparable by Anne-Sophie Bailly where she plays opposite Charles Peccia-Galletto. She plays the mother of a “different” young man in his thirties and must come to terms with the idea that he is going to leave her to become a father and live with a colleague who is also disabled.

“This woman’s life had revolved around her son for years,” explains Laure Calamy. This is the case for many mothers, but the fact that she is afraid that he will not be able to cope without her makes the cord even more difficult to cut. Charles Peccia-Galletto, actor with a disability, plays the role. Their alchemy constitutes a major asset of this little bubble of delicacy.

Accomplices in the city as on screen

In “real life” also the complicity between the two actors emerges at every moment, giving the impression of prolonging the experience of a generous film. “The relationship between our characters is much rockier than the one we experienced on the set,” explains Laure Calamy. At first, I was a little surprised by Charles' affectionate side because I'm not very tactile, but I quickly let myself be tamed.” We can attest to this because these two were more complicit than ever during our interview even if Charles did not hesitate to pester his partner.

“The first time I met her, I found her haughty,” says Charles Peccia-Galletto. Laure Calamy reacts as if she were on a spring. ” Me ? It's just because I was focused! I'm not the type to look down on people.” His partner gives him a big affectionate kiss. “I quickly changed my mind while working with you. You were great and you helped me a lot not to freak out when I was afraid of not being able to do it.”

Accomplices on screen

Their complementarity is evident on screen. We instantly believe in this fusion duo. This stifling and well-meaning mother is as moving as this young man who dreams of independence with the woman he loves. “I felt protective towards Charles,” admits Laure Calamy. He has a childish side that touched me.” The mother she plays sometimes loses patience with her son who is not easy to get along with, but the unconditional love between the characters often makes the eyelids moist.

Caesarized in 2021 for Antoinette in the CévennesLaure Calamy supports the candidacy of Charles Peccia-Galletto, we will know on January 29 if he is definitively selected among the Male Revelations of 2024. “Charles is overflowing with talent and naturalness and this prize could help him launch his career . He has everything to succeed,” she said.

A promising future

Charles Peccia-Galletto does not dare hope for the statuette but he is confident about a future that he intends for the 7th art. His performance in My inseparable makes you optimistic for the future. As for Laure Calamy, we will find her from January 1st in the delightful A bear in the Jura de Franck Dubosc.
