“It’s a year of taking charge and transformation,” explains Marc Dingreville, director of Eden cinema in Montmorency (Val-d’Oise). A little over a year after the reopening of the establishment, it is time to take stock. With different programming and a different target audience, the cultural place is gradually becoming a family spacewhere you can come alone, with friends or family, to experience a moment of relaxation.
More sessions
“It was an arthouse cinema before. Since the reopening, we have wanted the cinema to be more open to the general public,” indicates Marc Dingreville. To do this, the number of sessions was revised upwards. From 1,847 in 2023, they increased to “more than 3,000” this year, assures the manager.
“We have put in place means of communication in the city newspaper and on social networks. We are gradually bringing children, families and schools back into cinema,” says the man who also runs the Taverny and Domont establishments.
Of the previews are organized on Sunday morning for the youngest, family films are available and 105 films Art house are still offered to this new audience. “We try to satisfy everyone’s desires. It’s more diverse than before,” he says.
Cheaper places
This direction decided by the new management seems, for the moment, to be going in the right direction. After a wave of work, the rooms can accommodate more audiences, the acoustics have been redesigned, the video projector is “state of the art”the seat is more comfortable and the overall experience is more pleasant.
Marc Dingreville notes the collaboration with the municipality. “The mayor is determined that his cinema will work. It’s a real support because we are one of the city’s cultural tools,” he emphasizes. As a reminder, this “reinforced support” includes a sum of 30,000 euros per year from the City.
In comparison with the major cinema chains, the director offers “cheaper seats, three euros on average for a single entry”. A more attractive price which allows “entire families to come. When there are five of us, the figure can rise quickly.”
And to conclude: “It’s rather positive. There is a nice dynamic. We will continue next year to attract another audience. »
