Exploring the arts of speech with Spoken Word Cabaret
On January 16 from 8 p.m., the Spoken Word Cabaret will stop at the Maison de la lettres. This surprising evening, centered on the theme of nostalgia, will bring together poets, including Virginie Lachapelle, Alix Paré-Vallerand and Rosemary Mc-Comeau who will pay homage to the spoken word through spoken, slammed, rapped and sung texts, all accompanied by improvised music. The hosts Lauriane Charbonneau, Geneviève Dufour, Natalie Fontalvo and Dominique Sacy complete this vibrant picture of performers.
Being told stories with Enfabulation
Since 2017, author Juliana Léveillé-Trudel has directed and hosted the show Enfabulation, which invites the public to listen to four true stories told by those who lived them, without text, costume or artifice.
Each story has been carefully considered. The theme “Keep your word” inspired the authors Rashel Bessette, Dominique Sacy, Sanaa Legdani and Mathieu Turcotte who proposed texts where the word given becomes an issue. Halfway between the storytellingstorytelling and performance, these stories, delivered in their simplest expression, will captivate spectators with their ability to make people laugh or move them.
Enjoy a moment of comfort at La Nuit de la lecture
On January 25, on the occasion of Reading Nightthe House of Literature offers an immersive evening where eight authors, including Virginie DeChamplain, Jean-Michel Fortier, Mattia Scarpulla and Élise Turcotte, will read extracts from their works in front of an audience.
To enrich this experience, stations will be set up to invite spectators to fully immerse themselves in the moment by devoting themselves to knitting, coloring mandalas, completing puzzles, or even enjoying the soothing virtues of a hot beverage. The event will take place in a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of an evening of camping under a starry sky.
Dissecting Fear with Nicholas Dawson
