(Agence Ecofin) – For its first original Beninese series, A+ Bénin, a channel belonging to Canal+ and the Beninese state, used the services of the Senegalese studio Marodi TV. The start of the series is announced for Monday December 23.
“Appearances”, the first original Beninese series from A+ Bénin will be broadcast from Monday, December 23. The information was confirmed during a press conference held by the television channel and its partner on the project, the Senegalese studio Marodi TV. “Since its creation, A+ Benin’s mission is to reveal and promote talents as well as Beninese and African cultures through loyalty-building fiction and entertainment programs” declared Cléli Azakpota, CEO of A+ Benin.
“Appearances” was written by Beninese Christiane Chabi-Kao and produced by the Beninese-Senegalese duo formed by Kismath Baguiri and Pape Abdoulaye of Marodi TV. “For this first co-production with Marodi TV, we wanted to bring together our audience through a daily, serialized and popular series where family, the thirst for power, love and resilience are at the heart of the plot” explains Cléli Azakpota.
The link between A+ Benin and Marodi TV was certainly the French group Canal+, co-founder of the channel with the Beninese State, and which acquired a stake in the Senegalese production company last April. “Appearances”, which presents an essentially Beninese cast, involves 80 main actors, nearly 600 extras and 60 technicians for a final result of 100 episodes of 26 minutes.
