The writer and playwright Driss Ksikes received the insignia of officer in the Order of Arts and Letters from the French Ambassador to Morocco, Christophe Lecourtier. During a ceremony held Tuesday in Rabat, the official praised “the richness of the journey of a free spirit, defender of critical thinking and a debate of ideas open and accessible to all citizens.”
Writer, playwright and professor at HEM since 1996, Driss Ksikes has directed Economia, HEM Research Center, since 2007. Within the HEM foundation, he is the initiator of the Les Presses de l’Université Citoyenne collection. Former editor-in-chief of TelQuel magazine (2001-2006), he now leads several research projects in media and culture at the regional level. Curator of La nuit des philosophers (2017 and 2018), he is also the author of several academic articles, in addition to novels, essays and dramaturgical texts.
Furthermore, Driss Ksikes has been nominated and awarded for many of his works. In 2000, he received the prize for best text for “No memory… memory of not”, at the Sibiu International Theater Festival. In 2009, his text “IL” was awarded at the Constantine International Theater Festival. In 2015, the author was awarded the Grand Atlas Prize for the best essay in Morocco, for “The intellectual profession”.
