Alec Baldwin thanked his wife for supporting him during his trial on “Rust.” He owes her “everything,” the actor and producer told David Duchovny on the “Fail Better” podcast.

Alec Baldwin says he owes his wife Hilaria “everything” for the support she gave him during the ‘Rust’ trial.

The “Rust” affair has hit the headlines since 2021. On the set of this film, of which he was a producer, Alec Baldwin accidentally killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, and injured director Joel Souza. The gun he used, a set prop, was loaded! Defining everyone’s responsibilities has given rise to various trials and numerous comments.

Alec Baldwin was charged with manslaughter and tried in July, but ultimately the case was dismissed after it was discovered that the prosecution had withheld evidence.

The 66-year-old actor spoke about these difficult years for him and his family with David Duchovny during an episode of the Fail Better podcast.

He paid tribute to his wife, Hilaria, 40, who helped him overcome the trials of recent years.

“I owe everything to my wife,” he said. She is the most spiritually elevated human being I have ever met, and she has been gentle with me and supportive.”

He then explained how he felt powerless to protect his family: “You’re a man, you fall in love with someone and you ask yourself, ‘What can I do to make my wife safe?’ And there was nothing I could do to stop what was happening to me,” he lamented.

If Alec Baldwin says he is relieved that the case was closed, he would have preferred that the jury made the decision which exonerated him.

“The judge canceled the case,” he recalled. She dismissed the case with prejudice, for which I am very grateful… I think it was a very informed decision on her part. But if I had gone all the way and gotten a verdict, it would have been a little better, because more members of the jury would have considered the facts and we would have presented a lot more things.”

Today, the actor aspires to turn the page. “For my part, I’m going to take a break. I don’t want to talk about it for a while. I want to take some sort of nap.”
