THE “WORLD’S” OPINION – MUST SEE
Under its somewhat general appearance, the first feature film by Victor Rodenbach, born in 1986, screenwriter – particularly on television series Plane tree et Ten percent – passed into production, houses a modest but successful little comedy on its scale. Couple’s comedy, as there are many, but which has the particularity of focusing on separation, a moment less often treated with the usual lightness. In this respect, the film comes close to the remarkable September without delayby the Spaniard Jonas Trueba, released in August, which also chronicled the fully assumed disunity of two artistic characters.
The Beautiful Role also places the marital quarrel in the artistic world, with the amusing fact that it engages an old rivalry between theater and cinema. Playwright associated with the Comédie de Reims, Nora (Vimala Pons) rises Ivanov with, in the title role, his companion, Henri (William Lebghil), a regular in his plays. But the actor, in his early thirties, sought to diversify, and landed a first role in the cinema in Paris. His acrobatic back and forth between filming and rehearsals will compromise both his relationship and the play.
