the essential
Morenito de Aranda, a notable figure in the Vicoise arenas, promises an unprecedented performance against six bulls during the 2025 feria, after a triumphant season marked by notable exploits.
This is not really a surprise as the rumor was persistent, even assertive, sometimes in the Spanish bullfighting press. The 2025 feria will end in apotheosis with the solo encounter of Morenito de Aranda, facing six toros, three Araúz de Robles and three Flor de Jara. Morenito de Aranda, since May 29, 2023, is a bullfighter who is now essential for the Vicoise arena.
That day, he was injured shortly after entering the track, during a porta gayola. However, without anyone realizing the seriousness of the injury, he continued to tore, cut off an ear and, in pain, honored a vuelta.
He will return to Vic on May 20, 2024, facing a Los Maños encierro. He was huge with the fourth, a certain “Saltacancelas”, and cut off his two ears which were added to the one obtained on Roman’s toro, seriously injured during the lidia.

From then on, the rest of his season in the South-West will be a succession of more or less important triumphs until the awarding of the best bullfighter prize awarded by the association of bullfighting critics of the South-West. Thus we were able to applaud Morenito de Aranda in Mont-de-Marsan where, on July 19, in a bullfight competition, he cut off the ear of a Flor de Jara. Two days later, in this same feria, he pocketed an ear, then a second, on extraordinary Victorino Martín toros. In Riscle, on August 3, he cut a flag from a Cuillé before triumphing in Dax, on August 16, leaving with ears cut from the toros of Victoriano del Río.

To celebrate his twenty years of alternative, Morenito proposed himself for an exploit in Vic. His latest temporada demonstrates that he is as comfortable with complicated breedings as those with an easier reputation. In Gascony, he did not opt for the easy way out by accepting difficult old “encastes”, such as Santa Coloma, Saltillo or Gamero Cívico.
These bloods are still preserved by Carlos Aragón Cancela, the former bullfighter, who took over a third of the cattle of Joaquim Buendía, whom his son had at one time raised under the name Bucaré. The Gamero Cívico-Saltillo alchemy is difficult to explain in Arauz de Robles, who holds a real genetic nugget.
The program is stopped for a unique finale of the 2025 feria with a new gesture from Morenito de Aranda. See you on Monday June 9.
