Pfirst full box for Emilia Perez at the Golden Globes. Jacques Audiard's “transgender” film tops the nominations with ten citations: for best foreign language film, obviously (where it will have a hard time facing I'm still here, by Walter Salles, and Seeds of the wild fig tree, by Mohammad Rasoulof), but also, and above all, for the best comedy or musical film (against, among others, another “frenchy” production, The Substance, by Coralie Fargeat, as well as the 2024 Palme d’or, Anora, by Sean Baker). Jacques Audiard is nominated for both best direction and best screenplay, and the duo Camille and Clément Courcol alone have three nominations: one for best original soundtrack and two for best original song (for the very beautiful the evil et my way). Zoe Saldana and Selena Gomez will compete for best supporting actress, and Karla Sofía Gascón, their co-winner of the Best Actress Award at the Film Festival, will compete for best actress in a comedy or musical film, facing to Demi Moore (The Substance), Zendaya (Challengers) and the young Mikey Madison, revelation ofAnora.

As for dramatic films (1), it also smells very good for The Brutalist, the brilliant fresco by Brady Corbet (released in on February 12, 2025), which has six nominations. It is difficult to see how the Golden Globe for best actor in a drama film could escape Adrien Brody for his interpretation of a Hungarian architect who survived the Shoah. He will notably be facing Sebastian Stan for his interpretation of young Donald Trump in The Apprentice – the voters of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association were therefore not afraid of possible reprisals from the president-elect, who did not hide his anger towards Ali Abbasi's film, very critical of him. Sebastian Stan will have a second chance to win a Golden Globe as he is also nominated for best actor in a comedy or musical film for his incarnation of a man with a misshapen face in A Different Man, d'Aaron Schimberg.

And on the series side

They dominated the Emmy Awards, so we were logically expecting them at the Golden Globes: comedy (dramatic) The Bear (Disney+) is once again at the top of the nominations, cited five times – notably Jeremy Allen White and Liza Colón-Zayas, awarded in September. On the drama side, the historical fresco Shōgun (Disney+) did almost as well, with four nominations, notably for actors Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai, also Emmy winners. Big success of the first half of the year on Netflix, My little reindeer et Ripley also obtained three nominations. Surprise winner of the comedy category, Hacks (Téva) is also obviously present, also cited three times, as well asAbbott Elementary (Disney+), rare major chain comedy to survive. Everyone is there, or almost – Fallout (Prime Video) is missing on the popular series side, and we would have liked to find a place for Sugar (Apple +).

The Golden Globes being awarded six months after the other notable ceremony of the year for series, they also select more recent works, broadcast after September. We are therefore delighted to see the disturbing Disclaimer (Apple TV +) and its interpreters Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline will be part of the party. The Diplomat (Netflix) is here for its season 2, notably its formidable actresses Keri Russell and Allison Janney. We are more surprised to see nice but not essential programs invited to the evening, like the effective British thriller The Day of the Jackalthe Taylor Sheridan series Landmanthe Mexican-American drama The Machine or even comedy Nobody Wants Thishardly appreciated by Telerama but cited three times… And what is there to do there? Squid Gameseason 2 of which has not yet been broadcast? An appointment in principle or a snub from critics, who cannot say anything about it for the moment – have we signed an embargo? These nominations generally leave an impression of lukewarmness, as if the Hollywood Foreign Press Association did not want to upset anyone.
