“People have not forgotten it”: a Bob Bissonnette Festival at Stade Canac in 2025

More than eight years after his tragic death, Bob Bissonnette retains a special place in the hearts of his admirers: they will have a day to celebrate his musical legacy and take a few sips, next summer, at Stade Canac in Quebec.

The Bob Bissonnette Festival will take place on August 30, on the field where the Capitales, the baseball team of which he was briefly a minority co-owner before his death on September 4, 2016, play.

“It’s going to be festive and emotional,” predicts Richard Gibeault, of the company Les Grands Rassemblements, which is behind this project.

When Mr. Gibeaul had the idea of organizing a musical event around an artist at Stade Canac, Bob Bissonnette was the first name that came to mind. In his opinion, the popularity of the late singer is greater now than during his lifetime.

“There are seven tribute bands going around. It’s packed everywhere at bars and festivals every time these bands perform. It’s pretty impressive what’s happening. Besides maybe Elvis, I think he’s the artist who has the most tribute bands,” he says.

“I recently listened again The ballad of the sick, in which he talks about doing a show in Caraquet. He sings for the world and with the world. People have not forgotten it. You felt like he was singing to you.”

6000 people expected

The Bob Bissonnette tribute bands will all participate in this one-day festival. In addition to the musical performances, we will broadcast the documentary Bob Bissonnette: Rockstar. And little by little close as well as a recording of a concert at the Olympia in Montreal.

“It’s going to be Bob Bissonnette wall to wall,” summarizes Richard Gibeault, who hopes to convince one or two artists known to the general public to join the party.

A crowd of more than 6,000 people is expected for this festival, where we will surely hear the famous “sip” that Bissonnette gave during his shows several times.

  • Tickets are on sale now at partyquebec.ticketacces.net. Part of the profits will be donated to the Bob Bissonnette Foundation.
