Karine Le Marchand deciphers our sexuality

On November 13, Inserm, ANRS and Santé publique published a gigantic study revealing the new sexual practices of the French, Context of sexualities in France 2023. As an echo, Karine Le Marchand is offering this Monday an evening entirely devoted to the subject with two documentaries that she embodies and produces.

A pivotal moment

And the second dock, The Limits of Pleasure, at 11:20 p.m., explores extreme sexual practices, the first, How has everything changed?intends to take a complete look at our romantic and sexual behaviors in 2024. From exclusive love to libertinism, including polyamory or asexuality, the host questions all forms of love. “I really wanted to understand how French sexuality had changed in fifty years, underlines Karine Le Marchand. Our romantic codes, our references, our way of flirting and whether or not to enter into a relationship on continuity, to choose a gendereverything has changed. Obviously, the notion of consent or social networks have changed things enormously. I think we are living at a pivotal moment. »

A love map

To prove it, Karine Le Marchand and director Delphine Cinier tried to establish a love map starting from seduction to go as far as the decision to form a couple or not… “We selected forty French people aged 18 to 70, continues the host. We filmed them between two and four hours, letting them tell us what they wanted about their romantic relationships. There was no taboo but we were careful not to fall into caricature. Affirming what we are is good, but it was not enough for us. We wanted people who have a structure regarding their love life and who manage to verbalize it. »

In the end, Ariane and Bertrand, a very traditional couple, appear in front of the camera, Léa and Elody, an asexual lesbian couple, Thierry, Franck and Chris, a couple, or even Fanny and Christophe who use specialized applications to avoid falling into a sexual routine… Enough, in fact, to illustrate the diversity of the French in matters of sexuality.

“The French, love and sex: how has everything changed?” can be watched on M6 on Monday 09/12 from 9:10 p.m.
