The French comedian Pierre Palmade, a popular artist mired in his drug addiction, did not appeal his sentence to five years in prison, two of which were closed, for his responsibility in a violent road accident committed under the influence of drugs, the prosecution told AFP on Tuesday.
This tragedy sparked a media storm in France.
The sentence, in accordance with the requisitions, was pronounced on November 20 by the criminal court of Melun, south of Paris. Pierre Palmade was convicted of involuntary injury.
On February 10, 2023, getting behind the wheel after three days of using drugs without sleeping, the actor collided with a car driving in the opposite lane in Seine-et-Marne, in the Paris region.
Three people were seriously injured in the impact: a 38-year-old man, his six-year-old son and his 27-year-old sister-in-law who, being pregnant, had lost the child she was expecting after the impact.
