Dwayne Johnson traveled to Hawaii with his family to celebrate the release of ‘Moana 2.’ On the red carpet, he danced with his mother, enjoying a symbolic moment for him and his loved ones.

For Dwayne Johnson, “Vaiana 2” (in which he gives his voice to the character Maui), is a film full of symbols. The American actor, originally from the Pacific on his mother’s side (from the Samoa Islands), took advantage of the film’s premiere to celebrate his musical origins.

In theaters since November 27, “Vaiana 2” had a world premiere in Hawaii (United States). The entire cast therefore gathered on this occasion, and Dwayne Johnson was not missed. The famous actor showed up, accompanied by his entire family: Simone, his eldest daughter, Laura Hashian, his wife since 2019, his two daughters Jasmine (8 years old) and Tiana (6 years old) and also Ata, his mother.

“Representing Polynesian culture on the big screen”

It was the latter who made an impression, when she started a few dance steps on the red carpet, inviting her son to join her. A scene that “The Rock” did not fail to share and explain on social networks: “it was a moment full of emotion. While walking to the world premiere of “Moana 2,” our music group played one of my mother’s favorite Samoan songs. She immediately started dancing. Her hand gestures invited me to join her. I hugged my kids and I did it.”

He continues, emphasizing the impact for him of such a film: “this moment is so important for all of us because Polynesian culture and Polynesian people are represented on the big screen in “Vaiana 2”.

The American actor was particularly talked about for his physical transformation visible on filming locations. If some thought that “The Rock” had gained a lot of muscle, he admitted to what this change was due to: “it’s a suit, which takes me a lot of time to put on. So I’m very happy that people think I’ve gained muscle when they see these photos. Because that means no one can notice that I’m wearing a muscle suit.”

This version of Moana is scheduled for July 10, 2026.
