Every year, on the occasion of Christmas, a big musical gala is organized. This gala is recorded in the presence of Queen Máxima and is broadcast on television for the holidays. The Emmaüs primary school in Rotterdam has been selected to be one of the twelve schools which will participate in the concert this year. Since 2023, Méér Muziek in de Klas has broadened its objectives and is no longer just about learning music. The program now extends to learning other cultural disciplines, including dance and visual arts.
Queen Máxima attended part of the music course with music teacher Sjharlie Vos, who followed the training provided by Méér Muziek in de Klas. The students performed the song “Hoop en geef nooit op” which was specially written for the occasion. Afterwards, Queen Máxima spoke with the children about what they learned, along with TV host Buddy Vedder who will present the Christmas musical gala. Queen Máxima also attended an art workshop with children making clay works.
