Star Wars is set to explore a whole new area of its “galaxy far, far away” in early December 2024 via a Disney+ exclusive. After The Acolyte during the summer period, a new live action series enriches the universe of George Lucas. And fans won’t have to wait long. Disney has just brought forward the broadcast of the first episodes by a few days.
A new Star Wars series on Disney+
Disney+ is banking heavily on the Star Wars saga to attract new subscribers and convince those who have already given in to the call of SVOD to stay a few more months. The Acolyte was the first major stone added to the Star Wars building in 2024. There was a few months later in a completely different register the action-adventure video game Star Wars Outlaws developed by Massive Entertainment (Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora ) and published by Ubisoft, of which you can find our test here. It is now time to return to Disney+ at the end of the year to discover the brand new series taking place in this science fiction universe initiated by George Lucas in 1977.
Skeleton Crew aims to appeal to children of all ages (young and old) and to offer fans a journey to the confines of the most famous galaxy in the company of actor Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts, Captain Marvel , Sherlock Holmes, etc.). This Star Wars series is written by Hollywood bigwigs – Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Jon Watts and Christopher Ford – and directed by directors experienced in sci-fi and ambitious productions. Perceived as a meeting between Star Wars and the Goonies film, Skeleton Crew is intended for the whole family and could well be the ideal gateway to one of the richest universes in SF for younger generations.
The synopsis: “Skeleton Crew” tells the story of four children searching for their home planet. Lost in the galaxy, their adventures lead them to encounter strange creatures and mysterious and dangerous places. – (Disney+)

A release date brought forward by a few days
The month of December risks being a bit crowded for all those who swear by series. Between the end of Dune: Prophecy, the current season 2 of Silo, the sequel to Squid Game without forgetting the animated anthology Secret Level, the last 31 days of 2024 are going to be intense. And Star Wars in all this? Skeleton Crew was supposed to debut on December 3 in the United States and therefore on December 4 in France, but Disney decided otherwise. The first two episodes of this new Star Wars series will be put online from December 2, 2024 in Uncle Sam’s Land, or December 3 at 3 a.m. (Paris time) in France.
