A harmony between classical music and video game music

Nathan Zürcher breaks the codes and mixes flavors. The performer-composer from Moutier will play a classical recital around video games this Saturday in Chantemerle with other musicians. In this representation called “Universe”, its objective is therefore to link the music of the latter to classical music. “Final Fantasy” or even “The Legend of Zelda”, the melodies should speak to the general public. They will be accompanied by light shows and images which will punctuate this recital.

“We are seeing at the moment an artistic particularity which is quite successful, it is the concert film. It’s a way of showing that classical music is not so stuffy and therefore of making it accessible to other audiences,” explains Nathan Zürcher. He therefore wanted to break the codes and show listeners that this type of music is present in their favorite pastimes. If the two universes seem so far from each other, it is not necessarily a world to link them. “Many video game composers have drawn from classical music literature and I want to show it through this string quartet formation,” he says. The Chantemerle audience will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in well-known worlds to the sounds of violins, cellos and violas this Saturday. /lge
