After the history of bold colors (blue, black, red, etc.), Michel Pastoureau, medieval historian and specialist in the symbolism of colors, now explores half-tones. His latest work deals with pink, of which he tells the story and reveals the hidden meanings.

Present in nature, we rarely encountered this color in clothing until the end of the Middle Ages. It spread thanks to the use of Brazil wood, a dye imported from the New World. At the end of the 18th centurye century, pink became romantic and feminine, a symbol of softness, pleasure and happiness…

A meeting with readers at the New Bookstore
