This is the first time that they are part of the programming of the festival Celtomania and “it really makes us happy, we can’t wait to be there,” assures Florent Jolly, guitarist and singer of the Nantes group Doon.
With two other former musicians from “La guinche du Faune”, he put together this trio in 2022. “There were five of us and we sang festive and traditional songs. I have always loved vocal harmonies and instrumentals that make you dance, so I wanted to start again on another project,” recalls the man who came to music through the transverse flute.
Between ballads and dance songs
With Doon, the three are still in Irish, Quebec and Breton musicbut more in a folk style. “I like this acoustic music side,” notes Florent who, in addition to being a guitarist, is a singer. Just like Yoran Cheminant and Frédérik Bouley who are on the instruments side respectively on percussion and violin. “We do a lot of covers but we also integrate more and more compositions,” adds Florent. “We use Gilles Servat, Tri Yann, Vent du Nord…” he cites as an example.
We sing half in French, half in English. There are ballads, more dynamic songs and also a cappella.
