This Thursday, November 27, 2024 in the second part of the morning, around 10 a.m. during recess, an explosion of a bottle of acid in the toilets of the Jean Lurçat college in slightly injured three students. They were taken to Angers University Hospital. According to initial information, it could be a challenge which is currently running on the social network particularly popular with young people: TikTok. Similar events occurred in 2017 in schools in Amboise in Indre-et- and in Trélazé in Maine-et-Loire by mixing acid and aluminum, thus creating an explosive chemical reaction. The police intervened quickly to secure the school as well as the emergency services to take care of the affected students. The other students returned to class for the end of the morning after this security. The academic director of the Maine et Loire National Education Services immediately went to the site, joined by the Prefect, the President of the Departmental Council, an elected official from the City of Angers and the rector's security advisor. A listening cell will be deployed tomorrow when the school opens, as well as support for security through the presence of an agent from the DSDEN mobile security team. The Prefect of Maine-et-Loire has asked the internal security forces to exercise great vigilance with regard to educational establishments.
