Cyril Lecomte
Cyril Lecomte, multi-talented actor, director, author, producer and photographer: he has established himself as an essential figure in the French audiovisual landscape. Trained at the Théâtre de la Criée, he stood out in 1995 in The King of Paris alongside Philippe Noiret, and has since gone on to play notable roles in films like Mobsters, Chrysalis, La French et BAC North. He remains attached to his hometown, for which he actively works through his art and his cultural commitment.
L’association Marseiilons United
He created the Marseillons United association in 2015, an association aiming to develop and promote artists in the region. Initially intended for the creation of live shows, the association takes to heart the development of social-cultural projects and is moving towards cinema and documentaries.
The approach on the film
In a deeply cultural and human approach, this internship is aimed at young people, minors and adults, whether they are in school, in employment, looking for work or out of school, from priority neighborhoods in the city of Marseille. It aims to offer them an opening towards an artistic path or other areas of professional activity, through the practice of casting and the operation of a film set to understand the artistic side and the technique of filming. This process strengthens their ability to express themselves in public, to integrate and find self-confidence, while providing them with concrete tools to potentially apply for a professional future.
The movie
The documentary The urgent thing is to love retraces this internship within Provence Studio. It begins by exploring the basics of acting, but evolves into intimate scenes written by young people, blurring the line between reality and fiction. Cyril Lecomte’s gaze punctuates the film and questions the art of acting in full change. The film opens outwards, suggesting a continuation of this human adventure.
This project is supported by the Prefect for Equal Opportunities and the Department of Bouches-du-Rhône.
